Privacy Policy
Last updated on August 7, 2026.
OK JSON is a JSON viewer for macOS developed by Anybox LTD. This policy describes what data OK JSON handles, where that data lives, and the few situations in which the app talks to a network at all. The short version: your documents are processed entirely on your Mac, and we collect nothing.
What we don't collect
OK JSON has no analytics, no telemetry, and no crash reporting. It does not require an account, and there is nothing to sign in to. We do not know who you are, how often you use the app, or what you open with it. The JSON you view, the queries you run, and the scripts you write are never transmitted to us or to anyone else.
Data stored on your Mac
Everything OK JSON keeps, it keeps locally. This includes your viewing History and its folders, saved jq filters and JSONPath queries, app settings, color themes, and any scripts you create in your chosen scripts folder. These files live in the app's local storage on your Mac, are never synced or uploaded by the app, and are deleted when you delete them or remove the app.
When the app connects to the network
OK JSON makes no network connections on its own. It connects only when you explicitly ask it to fetch something: using "New from URL", running a cURL command you provide, or opening an okjson://download link. In those cases the app contacts only the URL you supplied, retrieves the response, and processes it locally like any other document.
The version of OK JSON downloaded from our website additionally checks https://okjson.app for software updates. You can turn this off in Settings. The Mac App Store version is updated through the App Store and performs no update checks of its own.
Purchases
If you buy OK JSON Pro through the Mac App Store, the purchase is processed entirely by Apple under Apple's own terms and privacy policy. We do not receive your name, email address, or payment details.
If you buy a license for the direct-download version, payment is processed by Paddle, our merchant of record, under Paddle's privacy policy. Paddle handles your payment details and issues your license key; the app contacts Paddle only to validate that key. We do not receive or store your payment information.
Support
If you email us at hi@okjson.app, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message. We use it only to respond to you, and we do not add you to any mailing list. Issues filed on GitHub are governed by GitHub's own terms and are public.
Our website
The okjson.app website can be browsed without an account, and we do not run third-party advertising or tracking scripts on it.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how OK JSON handles data, we will update this policy and revise the date at the top before the change takes effect. Because the app collects nothing, we expect changes to be rare and cosmetic.
